In the last outing of the pre-season, Rana Verona fails to contain the Italian champions Itas Trentino, who pass 3 to 1 at the Pala AGSM AIM. Down by two sets, the Verona team closes the gap with a good third set, but the guests close the score in the next one. In a few days the first official match of the 2023/2024 season arrives for Coach Stoytchev’s boys, who will be on stage at Taranto.
In the initial lineup, the diagonal composed of Spirito and Amin is confirmed, with Truhtchev and Mozic as spikers and the Grozdanov-Moscow pair in the center. D’Amico free.
The match starts with Truhtchev’s winning attack, then the guests take measures and overtake. Especially with the attempts of the gang players, Rana Verona tries to stay in the wake, but Soli’s team breaks the deadlock. Upon returning to the pitch, the home team found greater continuity and with Grozdanov’s block they went three points clear. Then the trend reverses and from nine meters Rychlicki scores a +2 lead. At the end of the set the two teams responded blow for blow, but it was the Trentino team who prevailed and doubled their lead. The Scala team made an aggressive start in the third set and with a good series of serves from Sani they put Trento five points behind, which regained ground and reduced the gap, but Truhtchev reopened the game with a soft touch. The challenge is also exciting in the fourth set and in the end, the guests come out on top with the point from the former Magalini.
