Rana Verona does it again and conquers the sixth edition of the Janusza Sikorskiego Memorial thanks to a clear 3-0 victory against the home team KS Norwid. The match was almost always under control by Coach Stoytchev’s team, who gave little to their opponents, confirming the good performance of the previous day. 17 points each for Jensen and Dzavoronok (70% in attack), while Cortesia produced a lot more (9 points of which 2 at the block). Three wins out of three, therefore, for the Scaligeri in these first preparatory outings for the SuperLega. Next weekend, the Astori Trophy will be held in Montichiari.
In the starting six, Coach Stoytchev relies on Spirito as the setter and Jensen as the opposite. On the spiker he relies on Sani and Dzavoronok, with Vitelli-Cortesia at the center net and D’Amico as libero. The hosts scored the first point with a block, then Verona overturned also thanks to Dzavoronok’s diagonal and Cortesia’s first time. Vitelli’s block was worth the decisive push and the guests broke the deadlock. Favorable start for the Polish troops in the second set, the Scaligeri recovered ground, overtook with a series of serves by Dzavoronok, went behind again, then in advantage, they overtook with a touch by Jensen that closed an intense exchange. Vitelli stamped the 29-27 and sent his team to 2-0.
In the third set of the match, the local team tried to halve the disadvantage, but Verona held the reins of the challenge and prevailed in the various fundamentals. Two aces by Jensen in a row and one by Sani increased the gap for the Verona team, which put the seal on the match with Dzavoronok’s perfect pipe and took the victory of the competition.
