Another convincing performance for Rana Verona in this journey towards the new SuperLega season. In front of over 500 fans who flocked with great enthusiasm to the Pala AGSM AIM, Coach Stoytchev’s team once again beat Pallavolo Padova in the second test match of this period. Lots of competitive spirit on the pitch and evidence of understanding for Spirito and his teammates, who have already demonstrated good condition. Top scorer of the match was Dzavoronok with 23 points, followed by Truhtchev, capable of scoring on 17 occasions. Overall, the Scaligeri scored a great success, with 14 winning blocks.
Coach Stoytchev confirms the sextet lined up at the Kioene Arena: Spirito and Sani diagonally, Truhtchev and Dzavoronok in the flank and the Zanotti-Zingel pair in the centre, with D’Amico in the libero role.
Like a few days ago in Padua, the two teams immediately set the pace for the match, but Verona holds the reins, finding multiple breaks in various phases. The hosts increased their advantage with a perfect diagonal from Dzavoronok at the end of a long rally and the set ended with Spirito and his teammates up by six points. Upon returning to the field, the guests started better, but from nine meters Sani put the score back on level terms. A second touch of Spirito is worth the overtaking. The match then takes the path of balance, but Dzavoronok takes care of scoring two points that launch him, before the final seal from Truhtchev. Sprint start also in the third set, where the Frenchman lands a large pipe, followed by shots from the central defenders. Verona takes the lead, especially thanks to play from place three, and secures the result. We continue with the extra set and Stoytchev’s team remains ahead, maintaining a high level of concentration. Zingel prints a monster block at the end of the match, which ends with a round 4-0.
