NATIONALS: TWO VICTORIES FOR ITALY IN THE DHL, 13 COURTESY POINTS AGAINST BULGARIA

The DHL Test Match Tournament ended yesterday evening, the triangular event that saw the protagonists of Italy’s Lorenzo Cortesia, Leandro Mosca and Giulio Magalini and Bulgaria’s Aleks Grozdanov.

Coach Ferdinando De Giorgi’s Azzurri ended this friendly mini-tournament with two convincing victories, offering good signs in view of the first phase of the Volleyball Nations League scheduled for early June. In the first outing, Italy beat coach Piazza’s Holland 3-1. Mosca and Cortesia also signed the match, scoring 4 and 2 points respectively. Yesterday evening, the tricolor national team also beat Bulgaria with the same result. In this case, the center back from Treviso stood out with 13 balls, while Magalini also took the field, author of 2 points, including the block that put the seal on the challenge.

These are Cortesia’s words at the end of the second match: “Playing for the national team is always an honour. The team has had a great reaction, there are several absences at the moment but we had a great match. Ours is a path, we are a top-level group with many young players who can do well. It will be a long and intense summer, it’s a good thing that we are many, we will need everyone. The important thing is to be ready.”

Bulgaria, on the other hand, beat the Dutch selection in the opening match of the triangle, with Grozdanov who remained on the bench. In the following match against the Azzurri, the centre-back born in 1998 clocked in six times.
