In recent days the five Rana Verona players involved with their respective national teams have faced the first two days of the qualifying group stage for the next Olympic Games, scheduled for Paris in 2024.
ITALY
The Azzurri’s journey in Poule A in Rio de Janeiro got off to a good start thanks to the comeback victory obtained against the Czech Republic. De Giorgi’s team, after going behind in the score, asserted its superiority. In the second outing, however, it was Qatar that fell under the blows of Italy, who thus moved to the top of the table with full points. The central defenders Mosca and Cortesia did not take part in the two matches.
SLOVENIA
After two rounds, the Slovenian team is in command of Group B with full points, prevailing with a 3-0 result against both Tunisia in their debut and Turkey in the following match. On both occasions, Rok Mozic was the protagonist of excellent performances, scoring a total of 29 points, including one from the block and two from nine metres.
BULGARIA
Winning debut for Grozdanov and his teammates, who left China no chance in a historyless confrontation. The center back born in 1998 contributed significantly to the final 3-0, scoring 7 points and 1 block. In the following match it didn’t go the same way for Konstantinov’s team, who failed to counter the new European champions Poland. 6 points for Grozdanov in this case.
IRAN
Complicated start to the competition for Iran, who have not yet moved up the table after two matches played. On their debut, the Iranians had the worst of it against Germany despite managing to equalize the score in the second set. Then during the night came the defeat at the hands of Ukraine. Amin played on both occasions, scoring 8 points. Furthermore, the opposite stopped his opponents on blocks 3 times.
