NATIONAL TEAMS: THE LATEST RESULTS OF THE OLYMPIC QUALIFIERS

The qualifying tournament for the next edition of the Olympic Games, which will take place in Paris in 2024, has ended. The five Rana Verona players involved in this preliminary race were unable to gain direct access to the final phase with their respective national teams. Now to qualify for the five-ring competition it will be necessary to go through a good run in the 2024 VNL, which will determine the final ranking and promote the last five participating teams.

ITALY

Fefè De Giorgi’s Italian group finished in fourth place in Group A, with defeats in the last two matches proving fatal. With Cuba, the Azzurri paid for the waste of energy of these months, falling 3 to 1. In this case Moscow scored a point. In the final match, however, it was the hosts Brazil who prevailed, winning the match on a tie-break. Neither the Marche central defender nor Cortesia took part in the meeting.

SLOVENIA

Slovenia also had a bitter taste, as after a run of four victories they made two missteps which led to their arrival in third place in Poule B. However, Cretu’s team finished their journey with a smile, clearly beating Serbia also thanks to the 14 points scored by Mozic. In the previous round, however, the 16 (3 aces) scored by the hammer born in 2002 were not enough to avoid defeat against Japan. Overall, the number 19 ended up on the scoreboard 101 times.

BULGARIA

Bulgaria’s journey in this competition ended with two successes, but they were not enough to reach the top two in Group C. After overcoming Mexico without any difficulty – with Grozdanov scoring 1 point in attack – Konstantinov’s team beat Belgium in tie-break. Here the contribution of the place three class of 1998 was invaluable, as he collected a total of 11 points, one of which was a block. Throughout the competition, Grozdanov knocked down 43 balls.

IRAN

Seventh place finish for Iran in Poule A, but with the satisfaction of having snatched a point from Cuba in the last match. On the pitch, the new Scaliger opposite Amin Esmaeilnezhad played a high-level personal performance, establishing himself as his best scorer thanks to the 22 points scored. Furthermore, he also found 1 winning block and 1 ace. In the previous match, against Brazil, the number 10 was on the scoresheet 3 times. 35, however, in total over the entire tournament.
