NATIONAL TEAM, VNL: ANOTHER SUCCESS FOR MOZIC, GROZDANOV FALLS WITH ARGENTIN

Even the third day of the Volleyball Nations League 2023 has come to an end. In the field Mozic’s Slovenia, which defeated Cuba in a comeback, and Grozdanov’s Bulgaria, beaten by Argentina.

SLOVENIA

Slovenia sealed another victory, this time 3-1 against Cuba. In the first set Rok Mozic and his teammates struggled to impose their game, thanks to Herrera’s pounding attacks, before overturning the result and obtaining more three points in this tournament. The 2002 class was used in the first fraction, where he scored a point. Coach Gheorghe Cretu then chose to let him rest in view of the next demanding match against Brazil, scheduled for today.

BULGARIA

Nothing to do for Bulgaria in comparison with Argentina, who had the best in just three sets. Coach Konstantinov’s team failed to counter the current fourth force in the competition, thus remaining firm at 5 points. Aleks Grozdanov ended up on the scoresheet three times, clocking two points up front and one block. Tomorrow his last engagement in Week 2 of the VNL against Cuba, two lengths down in the general standings.

NATIONALS, VNL: GROZDANOV PRINTS 6 BLOCKS IN CUBA, MOZICKO WITH BRAZIL

Week 2 ended today for the two Verona athletes competing in the 2023 Volleyball Nations League. Mozic’s Slovenia ended the second phase with a knockout by Brazil, while Grozdanov snatched a point from Cuba with its Bulgaria.

SLOVENIA

The Slovenian national team finished the second week without moving up the table, falling 3-1 against Brazil. The team managed to develop their game in the first half, won narrowly, before suffering a comeback. Mozic played the first two sets, during which he scored 7 points, all on offense. However, Cretu’s team stood up to the green and gold, demonstrating once again that they have a high-level roster. With its 18 points, Slovenia has confirmed itself in the upper areas of the rankings.

BULGARIA

After a negative streak, Bulgaria returned to picking up points in the tournament, even if the final result rewarded their opponents. Konstantinov’s boys took the lead, then Cuba turned the tables. Once the match was brought into balance, the Central Americans prevailed in the tie-break. Great personal performance for Aleks Grozdanov, who took the stage with 12 points overall (second best scorer of his team), with 6 winning blocks and an ace. The Bulgarian selection thus rose to 6 in the standings.
