The first taste of SuperLega is served. In the first outing of the Jesi Volley Cup, Rana Verona already shows a good condition and beats Allianz Milano with the result of 3 to 1, gaining the pass for the final. Rhythm and intensity were the constants of this match well played by Coach Stoytchev’s team, capable of producing an impressive 17 blocks over the entire match (8 by Grozdanov alone, who had just returned from commitments with the national team). Top scorer Dzavoronok, author of 18 points, including 3 aces, while 13 were scored by the latest arrival Amin.
In the starting sextet, Coach Stoytchev confirms Spirito in the control room and immediately deploys the newcomer Amin as the opposite. Mozic and Dzavoronok are in the middle, while Grozdanov and Mosca are in the middle. The libero is D’Amico.
Rana Verona made a lightning start, taking her opponents by surprise and immediately trying to escape (5-0). With a great three-man block the advantage increases and thanks to Amin’s winning diagonal, the Scaligeri extend to 13-7. Then Dzavoronok unleashes himself from nine meters and effectively closes the set. Upon returning to the field, the match is more balanced and the two teams respond blow for blow, with Verona finding good continuity in attack. Milan tries to escape, but Mozic and his teammates remain in their wake and with Mosca’s ace they overtake. At the end, however, the opponents narrowly prevail.
Intense rhythms and long rallies also in the third set, where Verona once again begins with the right attitude. The race is exciting and Verona holds the reins of the game. The subnet agreement makes the difference in total domination by the Veronese troops. In the fourth quarter the level remains high and Stoytchev’s boys remain masters of the pitch. With Dzavoronok’s ace and Amin’s down the line, the lead becomes five points. Verona gives Milan no respite and wins the semi-final of the tournament.
